4 Do's and Don'ts of Dieting

Being overweight can lead to numerous health problems. If you have decided to work hard to lose weight, there are two main principles to work on; healthy eating and regular exercise. In this article we will discuss about the former at length.

1. Understand the science

The energy we spend everyday is known as our energy expenditure, and it varies person to person depending on their basal metabolic rate (BMR) and activity levels. The energy we take in, in the form of food, is our energy consumption. In order to lose weight, it is important that we eat in a caloric deficit. This will allow your body to burn the excess fat to overcome the caloric deficit.

2. Know your macros.

It is important for you to eat a well balanced diet, that provides you with an adequate source of all your macronutrients. This is important for health functioning of your body. You should never starve yourself in an attempt to lose weight.

3. Plan your meals.

Your experience of eating healthy and clean does not have to boring at all. Planning your meals will not only help you track your calories and your macros, but will also make you look forward to your meals. You can be innovative and include all your favorite foods, as long as you stay within your daily calorie limit.

4. Throw away all the junk.

Yes, you read that right. It is time to clean your kitchen cabinets, fridge and pantry. Do not hold on to junk food lying on your kitchen counter. It is likely to set you up for failure. Next time you go grocery shopping, do not stock up on processed junk food.

We hope this article helps you during your weight loss journey.
